Third-year students of the Faculty of Photography of the Institute for the Humanities and Information Technologies (IGUMO) returned from their practical training with new skills and enlarged portfolios.
At the defence of the internship, the students demonstrated the photos made in accordance with the technical assignment of their customers. According to most students, they gained skills in communicating with people, discovered new photographic perspectives, learned how to take pictures without interfering in the process of the event, communicated with experienced colleagues, and got valuable professional tips from them.
Anastasia Gorbacheva underwent her practical training at the Avtokombinat Mosavtotrans state unitary enterprise. She filmed the work of the enterprise, its separate workshops, workplaces, and production details.
Dmitry Spiridonov managed to work at TriNaChetyre, which is a studio providing its clients with beautiful document pictures. At the defence, he shared tips on this type of photography with his groupmates.
Andrey Kochkin, another student of the Faculty of Photography, practised at the Church of the Nativity in Cherkizovo. He took pictures in the altar and refectory parts of the church, worked during the church services and the procession of the cross. His portfolio now includes many reportage photos in black-and-white tone and several works in colour.
Anna Sedova’s practical training took place at GOODBYE OFFICE, which is a new-generation print magazine about sports and lifestyle. She shot reportage photos from various events.
Aleksandr Pikalov took photos of business centres, people and streets, and construction sites for CRE.ru. That is a website dedicated to the commercial real estate market.
Practical training is an important part of studies at the Faculty of Photography, which increases the chances of successful employment. The students work with a camera all year long in two photo studios at IGUMO and at field classes. They do commercial work for private clients, exhibit art photographs at the Days of Contemporary Art (DOCA) international festival, and regularly collaborate with major companies.
