On October 6, 2016 Yuri Andreychuk, a linguist and translator, together with the editor Anna Andreychuk conducted a workshop in IGUMO. On the material of computer games The Witcher-2 and The Witcher-3 they told about stages, peculiarities and difficulties of video game translation and gave some advice on how to get over them.
“Each type of translation has its specific features, and a translator needs much knowledge about a concrete sphere. This workshop was of great use for those who are going to work in the IT-sphere. Nowadays the sphere of computer games is very popular and the translations are well-paid”. - O.Kurenya, the Dean of the Faculty of foreign languages.
«That was amazing! I learnt much new about the process of video games translation. And it was also very interesting to compare the original Polish version with the translations into Russian and English» - S. Baranov, IGUMO graduate of the Faculty of Foreign languages.
«Before this workshop I knew little about the world of video games translation. And now I do know quite a lot. I also liked very much that the translation was described from the point of view of both a translator and a redactor. That’s really important». – A. Samsonov, IGUMO graduate of the Faculty of Foreign languages.
