A new Czech-Russian College’s lecture hall has appeared in IGUMO. Angelica Jamaludinova, a third-year student of design, has designed the interior by herself.
-Hi, Angelica. Could you tell us how you arrived at the idea of such project?
- The contest for the design was announced, and I decided to take a risk and to take a crack at interior design. As for me, the Czech Republic is like a big open-air museum of architecture of any style and any period. It greatly inspires me.
-What goals did you set?
-The classroom should be light, without bright details which bother students. I wanted to make it business-like, cozy and low-budget. I wanted to depict peculiarities of Czech architecture, adding some modern features. Light Gothic architecture inspired me to use carcass minimalistic furniture. I decided to use a special coverage instead of ordinary blackboard. You can also write something in Czech on the wall near the door. The room includes a stand for charts, a rack for books and some lamps. Besides using Czech national colours I also used some bright tones which can be met in Czech streets.
-Have you achieved what you wanted?
-All-in-all, yes. But I may have done better.
-What inspired you?
-Mostly, it was Czech architecture. But I also read a lot about the Czech, their customs, their mindset and their way of life. Hope someday I'll visit the country and check whether I have the right picture of it.
-Would you like to create some more designs?
-I’ve always wanted to change the look of our canteen and luckily I’ll be creating a new interior for it within some course activities.
