The ‘Architecture of the Czech Republic’ exhibition opened in the gallery of the Czech Cultural Centre in Moscow, where the works of the students of MKIKand IGUMO were presented. How was the opening going? What emotions did the authors of the artistic project experience? Read in our material.

The opening of the exhibition began with welcoming words. The students were congratulated by the Director of the Czech Cultural CentreMichaela Jeřábková, the Rector of MKIK and IGUMO Marina Volynkina, the lecturer and architect Aleksandr Borisov, the Dean of the Faculties of Design and Photography and the Design College Elizaveta Zemlyanova, and the head of the Student Parliament Polina Gordienko. They noted that they were proud of seeing the level of students’ works and wished the novice authors success in their creative journey.

The curator of the Architecture of the Czech Republic project Aleksandr Borisov told about the preparation of sketches for the exhibition:

“The sketches of Prague architecture were made in three weeks. We have had a few intensive sessions with the students and the idea of such a format was born in the process. And strange as it may seem, it has been realised so quickly!”

Marina Volynkina, the Rector of MKIK and IGUMO, also shared her impressions of the exhibition:

“I am very glad that we opened an exhibition dedicated to Czech architecture. The most important thing is that it presents the work of our students. That makes us proud of them. The students created these projects under the guidance of a professional architect. Our Czech friends appreciated the catalogue of sketches of young artists and decided to hold an exhibition. That’s a big event in the lives of our students”.

Yulia Sysoeva, a student, shared her impressions from exhibiting at the Czech Cultural Centre:

“I am very happy that my work is presented at this exhibition, I am overwhelmed with emotions. I want such events to happen in my life as often as possible! Our leader Aleksandr Borisov motivated me and convinced me that I can surpass myself and do something grand”.

Vitaly Dragunkin, a participant of the exhibition, described his work and told about the sources of his inspiration:

“I made a series of works with lanterns. For me, the spirit of the Czech Republic is in details: lanterns, fences, roads, sidewalks... I was drawing the Czech Republic paying attention precisely to these details, in which the cosiness of the city and country is revealed”.

The opening of the exhibition was a great success: the guests looked at the works with interest and admiration and shared their impressions with the authors. We congratulate our students-artists on such an important event in the life of every creative person!
