DESCRIPTION
The Faculty of Linguistics of IGUMO has been carrying out the Festival of Irish Culture for over 10 years. The project attracts students, college students, and schoolchildren. The international dialogue takes place through learning about unique facts about the culture and history of Ireland. The participants of the project acquire deeper understanding of the culture of their own country and English-speaking ones. The project pays special attention to the musical component of the festival. Students under the guidance of their lecturers learn traditional Irish songs in English and Irish alongside with national dances and perform them. As soon as the project itself is in English, the participants improve their language proficiency. Musical creative activities strengthen students’ motivation and creativity, improve their knowledge of language, and contribute to learning culture effectively.
