The 11th festival of young journalism called “The penguins of the Pen” took place in March. The students all over the country practiced their own journalism skills.
There were master-classes for the participants.
The IGUMO teachers Maria Alexandrovna VashchuK, dean of the faculty of photography, and Tatiana Viktorovna Vorozhtsova, dean of the faculty of journalism, made 2 of them.
The T.V. Vorozhtsova’s master-class was about what the most spread mistakes made by journalists are.

The Mistakes: Let’s List the Top 10
Every journalist is still only a human? So that means mistakes. But how to find and correct them? That’s the main question discussed while the master-class by Tatiana Viktorovna Vorozhtsova, dean of the Faculty of Journalism of the IGUMO.
It’s true that the main problem of journalism in Russia presently is that the journalists are not always professional enough. They can make texts full of mistakes and that leads to some misunderstanding, to say the least.
That is why master classes like the one called Most Widespread Mistakes in Public Texts are so important. There was a quest for the participants to guess the top 10 of those mistakes, and to find out how to avoid them.
As the lector said, “There is no need to add non-informative sentences to your text. Only information matters”.
In the end of this master-class there was the discussion about some important and actual problems of journalism in our days. As T.V. Vorozhtsova mentioned one of them is unverified information that can cause aftermaths.
