The workshop on sociolinguistics at the evening department 

It is always a pleasure to see the results of a thorough and fruitful research. The most sophisticated theoretical disciplines make the last term of the programme.

A course of sociolinguistics is always one of the students' favourites. Last week the fourth-year Linguistics students of the full- and part-time courses presented the results of their sociolinguistic researches at the seminars. 

The evening department seminars proved really intensive. Various Russian and English dialects, the  typology of linguistic situations and artificial and dead languages were discussed.

The students showed deep knowledge of the material, high level of personal contribution to the studies on selected topics and keen interest to the issues discussed. I would particularly like to mark the reports of Ilya Getsin, Tatyana Negrilova, Julia Angelova, Roman Kartamyshev, Stepan Baranov, Antonina Semenova, Oksana Yanina, Alexandra Mityaeva, and Irina Morar.
