The Institute for the Humanities and Information Technologies hosted the student initiation ceremony. First-year students took part in a quest and attended a concert. Senior students jointly with Yulia Urazbaeva, director of the ‘Post Scriptum’ Moscow Drama Theatre, prepared the event.
The quest consisted of several teambuilding-oriented tasks. The students had to solve a ‘yes-no riddle’ in a limited time, build a geometric figure with their eyes closed, and undergo other challenges. The result depended on the students’ ability to hear and feel one another.
During the concert, each faculty welcomed its newcomers as new first-year students. For example, designers drew a blue mark on the first-year students’ foreheads and photographers charged their newcomers with ‘light power’.
The initiation ceremony ended with a traditional flash mob: throwing threads. Within minutes all present were united by one big and bright web. Such an activity made everyone feel part of the big family of IGUMO.
At the end of the event, Marina Volynkina, Rector of IGUMO, congratulated all first-year students. She wished them to study diligently and enjoy the knowledge.
After the celebration, the students received the Institute’s branded items as gifts. Thanks to that, they feel even more connected to IGUMO.
First-year students have officially become part of the student community. We wish them interesting studies, productive practical training, and positive communication with their groupmates.
