INTRODUCING MEDIA TRENDS INTO STUDENTS’ MEDIA

Social networks, messengers, and mobile apps changed the psychology of information perception of the whole generation. They opened a path to a new format adapted by media this year. Our students from the MKIK also paid attention to the trend on modern ways to present information.

They decided to introduce a video blog, a new popular type of content. It will become a perfect addition to the ‘IGUMO.TV’ project. The experts see the most potential in this format and mark that the rivalry for news exclusiveness turned into a rivalry for people’s attention. Qualified videos are the best way to keep their interest.

We are going to publish our video blog every week on the IGUMO website. Such timeline promotes not only keeping the users in touch with student’s life but also attracting more students to the filming process.

The first video blog was hosted by Polina Kashieva, our student from the Journalism College. She spoke about a new format:

‘I think, it will be very interesting to work with a video blog format. What’s most important is that we are going to publish videos more often. By hosting I gained new experience and learned to be more liberated in front of a camera.’

You have probably noticed that the media trends also affected the MKIK web-portal. The news now has a more detailed structure, as well as more comfortable design.

But we have even more updates! Now the MKIK has its own radio. It’s another modern trend.

Before that, our college students participated in the podcasts made by the IGUMO students only as guests. Now they decided to have their own radio.

Ekaterina Kudryavtseva, head of the project at the Faculty of Journalism, will be the one to guide them:

‘Now we are only at the beginning of creating a radio product. We are working on a radio’s conception. I think that it’s the most interesting step because the students can design everything they want. That is why I wasn’t surprised when I received a whole lot of ideas, suggestions, and questions even before I asked the students to make working groups and invent their own concept of a radio program.

Of course, it’s also important to express one’s ideas in the right way for them to be understood by both team members and a mentor. It will be easier to work with them afterwards, as well as realize them.

For the next meeting, the students need not only to edit their suggestions but express them in a correct way so they would meet the rules and present them to our team.’

If you want to take part in making radio programs, filming video blogs, or preparing material for our Otkrytka newspaper, head to the dean’s office of our Journalism College. It doesn’t matter at which faculty you study, this experience will be useful for everyone. By making a big creative team you will be able not only to become a specialist in many fields, but also make students’ media more qualitative, modern, and popular!
