This holiday changed its names; its meaning was revised many times but it was celebrated or at least familiar to people in many countries of the world. In Russia, in the late 19th century during the rise of the labour movement this holiday emerged as International Workers' Day.
In 1889 the Paris Congress of the International II suggested celebrating this day in memory of those people who died in Chicago Protest March. In 1917, after the February Revolution, May Day celebration won popularity among Russians. Together with the change of political system the significance of the holiday changed. At present the 1st of May is Spring and Labour Day.29.04.2011
