Knowing theory well is not enough to become a good journalist and a real professional in your field. That is why students of IGUMO do practical training in the mainstream Russian media, ask questions to Vladimir Putin, the president of the Russian Federation, discuss innovations with Galina Karelova, Deputy Chairperson of the Federation Council, communicate with senators, ambassadors and famous sportsmen, interview important people and highlight major events.

This year students of IGUMO joined a large team highlighting the Second Forum of Social Innovations of Regions held on June 8-9 in Krasnogorsk. The organizers of this huge event were the Federation Council, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Labor, the Government of the Moscow Region, and the Agency for Strategic Initiatives. Our students took part in this huge event on a personal commission from Galina Karelova.

The students of the Faculty of Internet-Management created a web site, future journalists filled it with information content, and the students of the Faculty of Design decorated it. Thus, our students prepared internet platform for highlighting the events of the Second Forum of Social Innovations of Regions.

For two months together with their mentors the students observed, analyzed and systemized social practices from 85 regions of Russia. They wrote dozens of digests reflecting the most innovative and socially important projects and initiatives. Thus, Russia saw its main social innovators.

After systematization of the received projects, students of the Faculty of Journalism made an analytical presentation in which they evaluated the current state of innovation activity and highlighted the most significant projects and initiatives. The authors of the presentation personally reported to Galina Karelova on the results of the work done.

IGUMO is proud of the fact that it provided live coverage of the activity on the web site of the forum and that the students of IGUMO became the forum’s participants and highlighted this huge event.

Valentina Matvienko, Chairperson of the Federation Council, and Andrei Vorobyov, Governor of the Moscow Region, were those who opened the Second Forum of Social Innovations of Regions. The event attracted federal ministers, governors, parliamentarians, scientists, businesspersons, teachers and other people. About 2,000 delegates joined the forum.

The development of social infrastructure is extremely important not only for society as a whole, but also for students in particular because of today’s active process of introducing innovations in the field of education. The work of the students of IGUMO was highly appreciated by the government officials on the plenary session.

In IGUMO, students are in a constant creative and educational process. They take part in numerous projects and joint interesting events. Thus, by graduation from IGUMO our student become real professionals.
