Gleb Gorbachev’s design project has been shortlisted for the C-IDEA DESIGN AWARDS international competition. The work has been developed within the graduation project.  It represents an interior of a two-level penthouse with Art Deco elements.

The canon of Art Deco presupposes symmetry and clear geometry. Decorations used in the project are of particular importance. They include decorative lamps and panels. The two-level apartment is divided into several zones: private space and common areas.

“When designing the interior, I was guided by the work of the French designer named Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann and American Art Deco. The project pays special attention to rich textures such as marble, onyx, velvet, and silk. There is an emphasis on textures and different types of wood as well as architectural elements of columns, stepped cornices, and laconic furniture”, comments the author.

The interior is designed for a musician. On the one hand, the client needs a visually clean and airy space. On the other hand, it is important to provide him with a change of feeling, thus making it possible to support the creative mood.

Gleb Gorbachev’s project has been recognized by the C-IDEA DESIGN AWARDS jury and has been included in the shortlist of 133 works. The results will be announced in July. The best works will also be presented and selected at the exhibitions in Seoul and Poznan.

“I have improved my skills of 3D modelling, visualization, and drawing. I also was working with light and combining colours and textures. I would like to express my gratitude to my supervisor Aleksandr Borisov for the knowledge, skills, and experience that I gained during my studies. All that helped me in creating my project and served as a foundation for further growth”, says Gleb Gorbachev, student of the Faculty of Design of IGUMO.
