Dive into English: Communicating with Native Speakers

IGUMO launches a new project titled ‘Dive into English’ for all those wishing to communicate with native speakers and broaden their knowledge. The first series of online meetings starts on November 25. Sean Boudreau, lecturer from Ireland, will deliver the course.

Sean Boudreau is an American of Irish origin. He travelled a lot around the world, lived and worked in different countries. During the trips, Mr. Boudreau acquired unique knowledge. He is ready to share it with IGUMO students within the special course.

Weekly meetings with Sean Boudreau will take place within ‘Dive into English’, which is the new project of the Faculty of Linguistics of IGUMO.

IGUMO students will have 20 unique classes with a native English speaker in a discussion format. Together with Sean Boudreau, you will discuss topics that concern the whole world from the power of advertising and the influence of media on people to the development of technology and the place of art in modern society.

All those topics require special emotional involvement of participants, which increases interest in the discussion. In addition, the views of speakers from different cultures on the proposed topics may differ significantly. By comparing different positions, students will broaden their horizons and become more tolerant.

Before each lesson, Mr. Boudreau will introduce new vocabulary on the topic to students. That will help students learn new words and engage in dialogue effectively.

The first ‘Dive into English’ meeting will take place on November 25 at 4:20 p.m.

Using his professional experience, Sean Boudreau will talk about the basics of effective intercultural communication. After that, students will be able to express their views on the topic.

From November 25, these meetings will take place every week on Wednesdays at 4:20 p.m. Students of all fields of training will be invited to participate.

Language practice with a native speaker is the best way to speak English confidently, get rid of clichéd phrases, overcome psychological barriers, and feel comfortable in communication with foreigners.
