The Faculty of Journalism at IGUMO trains future journalists to get the full benefit of the information space.

The faculty graduates versatile journalists who are familiar with all the secrets of their profession: the peculiarities of print and online editions, characteristics of radio and television journalism, and technologies of media-space.

The high level of students knowledge at the Faculty of Journalism is provided with high professionalism of the teaching staff. Classes are conducted by doctors and candidates of sciences, practising journalists of various print, radio, television, and online media, as well as professionals of publishing business. Students attend not only lectures, seminars and practical lessons, but also master-classes and educational excursions.

There is a Press-club working under auspices of the Faculty of Journalism. It is a discussion forum of informal dialogue between future journalists and well-known Russian and foreign mass media representatives, scientists and public figures. The Press-club is an effective way to expand communicative space.

The Faculty of Journalism at IGUMO aiming for practically-oriented education encourages students to take a challenge in different spheres of their professional activity. Various projects, being carried out by students and professors of the faculty, serve for this purpose.

The faculty collaborates with many publishing houses and mass media editorial boards such as the publishing group AST and the editorial board of Moskovskaya Pravda.

In 2013 IGUMO began publishing a full-coloured eight-page newspaper Otkrytka an officially registered mass media organisation. Otkrytka is entirely made by students of the Faculty of Journalism (who collect materials, write articles, and are in charge of design and layout), and students of the Faculty of Photography (who do camera-work and make photo reports).

Senior students of journalism work successfully in federal, regional, and metropolitan mass media.

Young specialists, who graduated from the Faculty of Journalism at IGUMO, have good command of language, can find a way with any audience, work efficiently in creative teams at all kinds of mass media.

Graduates of the Faculty of Journalism of the Institute for the Humanities and IT are intelligent people, who feel competent in different spheres of knowledge. They are successful both in printed and digital mass media, in radio as well as in television, in PR-agencies and corporate issues.
