The demo version of the Days ofContemporary Art (DOCA) international festival took place at the International College for Arts and Communication (MKIK). The college's two floors were filled with installations by students and famous artists. Volunteers who welcomed guests on the very threshold and helped them move closer to understanding contemporary art created the special atmosphere of the festival.
Presenting one of the largest college projects is a very responsible task. You need to be as friendly, helpful, patient, and open as possible.
The task of each volunteer is to help guests feel in a comfortable atmosphere, to look differently at familiar images and symbols, to find inspiration, to learn how to perceive contemporary art, and to read meanings at the level of intuition.
Year after year, volunteers, students of different fields of study, do an excellent job with their mission and literally make the guests of the festival fall in love with them.
In exchange for their work, they get an incredible experience of being involved in a big and important cause. And, of course, the experience of volunteering gives the children new skills.

Alena Ermolaeva, student of the Journalism and Publishing College of MKIK, volunteer of the DOCA demo:
“I am still overwhelmed with emotions. I decided to volunteer at DOCA to help my college hold this event. I also wanted to try myself in a completely new and unfamiliar direction: volunteering. The festival gave me confidence. I have become more open to people and now I am not afraid to approach them to tell them something. The festival also provides an opportunity to meet creative people. I am very happy that I got this experience”.
Antonina Kopyeva, student of the Journalism and Publishing College of MKIK, volunteer of the DOCA demo:
“DOCA is the best contemporary art festival. I have never met such versatile and interesting people. Now I am insanely inspired and looking forward to the April festival. I’m sure it will be a hundred times cooler and more interesting”.

“It was important for me to become a volunteer at DOCA. I have acquired the skills to communicate with people. I saw how many people delved into the essence of what I told them about the installations at the exhibition. I also received feedback from the guests in the form of bright and warm emotions”.

“In my opinion, the DOCA festival was very atmospheric, beautiful, and informative. And all that is thanks to the work of the organisers and all participants of the event. The volunteer work process is special because it involves communicating with people. You not only tell something new for the guests but alsolearn something yourself. A sense of responsibility is anchored within youand there is a pleasant feeling of being part of a complex and creative work that carries a deep meaning andtalks about social problems. I want to be a part of this festival again and I think such events are important”.
Everyone has their own opinion about contemporary art. However,thanks to its special atmosphere, everyone who visits the festival at least once will certainly like DOCA.
