MKIK presented the video called ‘From Russia - the New Generation’s Global Call to Action’ within the framework of the international conference dedicated to climate change problems. The event took place on October 23, on Earth Day.

This is the first all-planetary nonstop online conference in the history. Organisations from 120 countries and more than 23000 journalists took part in it.

MKIK became the only Russia’s representative at the conference and showed a small film about how students and teachers are changing themselves and transforming college space step by step, thus making it more nature-friendly.

Small steps towards a big goal are the founding basis of the student eco-movement. We can indefinitely talk about ecological problems but it is much more important to act. Students and teachers are always looking for new ways of solving the environmental situation. They start with transforming their own consciousness.

In addition, students and their mentors sort garbage, use shoppers instead of plastic bags, take part in ecological actions and initiate them, give away batteries and accumulators for recycling, and use their professional skills for drawing attention of a wide audience.

The video for Earth Day online-conference showed 6 creative and professional projects of students, teachers, and graduates of MKIK. They are all aimed at translation of the ideas of conscious consumption and saving natural resources.

The presented projects included:

  • a children’s book about pollution of the world’s oceans written by Elizaveta Danilkina, a student of the Journalism and Publishing College of MKIK;
  • a photo project on the use of string bags instead of plastic ones by students of different fields of training and lecturers of the Photography College Vadim Gushchin and Andrey Akimov;
  • a graduation photo project on pollution as an insurmountable barrier between human and nature by Alina Svinukhova;
  • models of architectural objects made of eco-friendlymaterials by MKIK Architecture College students;
  • the Global Talents web-portal as a platform for the ecological upbringing of the younger generation;
  • posters on ecology by Anna Kharikova.

All these projects make it possible to draw attention of a wide audience to important ecological issues and to encourage people to abandon unecological habits.

Thanks to the video for the international conference taking place on Earth Day, the whole world knows about MKIK’s initiatives. Within the framework of the ecological project, the students and the teachers will continue to realize ideas aimed at solving environmental problems.
