ïîäïèñàòüñÿThe Student Initiation Ceremony was held on October 1. Freshmen have been waiting for this day for a whole month. The event was organised by undergrads of the International College for Arts and Communication (MKIK) under the mentorship of Yulia Urazbaeva, director of the ‘Post Scriptum’ Moscow Drama Theatre.
The main aim of the event is to help freshmen dive into the atmosphere of MKIK and let them feel part of a big team.
Traditionally, the event began with the quest. During the process, students learn to understand and hear one another. After all, they’ll have to spend a few years together.
After the quest, MKIK held a concert. Within this concert, every College initiated its freshmen. Students of the Design College drew a blue mark on everyone’s forehead, students of the Linguistics College offered to touch a magic language cloud, students of the Chinese College swore an oath on hieroglyphs textbooks, students of the Journalism and Publishing College promised out loud to be disciplined and active, students of the Photography College charged newcomers with luminous power, and students of the Psychology College offered students to write letters for themselves in the future.
Students of the Advertising and Communication College decided to be creative and initiated their Dean, Oleg Glazunov, this year. Students gave him a metre long antistress.
We also had our traditional activity – passing balls of thread to one another which unite everyone in the room.
The Rector of MKIK Marina Volynkina said a couple of words at the end of the celebration. She wished freshmen to study diligently and enjoy the knowledge they get.
After the celebration, students got MKIK-branded production to feel even deeper connection to MKIK.
Students shared their impressions from the event in the comments:
Daria Filippova, student of the Journalism and Publishing College of MKIK:
“The Student Initiation Ceremony was really cool! I especially remembered students of the Chinese College! Rap under Krovostok was amazing, everyone would agree with this. We participated in an interesting quest, it was great to work in a big team of new friends and to feel that we’re already a rallied collective and understand one another without words. Thanks a lot to the students of MKIK for such a wonderful Initiation Ceremony”.
Klavdia Skvortsova, student of the Chinese College of MKIK:
“As for me, the Initiation Ceremony was fascinating and unusual. Hosts were cheerful, the quest surprised me most of all. All the performances were interesting but I liked the students’ of the Chinese College the most”
Ksenia Marchenko, student of the Design College of MKIK:
“Our undergrads did a great job so we could remember this day for a really long time. And thanks to the final part of the Ceremony – the web of thread – the whole event acquired a commonality”.
Freshmen are officially initiated. There’re long but exciting years of studying ahead.
Alena Ermolaeva, student of the Journalism and Publishing College of MKIK, member of the Student Parliament
