The most expected event for freshmen, student initiation ceremony, was held on October 14. The programme of the event was prepared by the event-team of the college. Students held traditional activities supplementing them with new contests and musical performances.
The main aim of the event is to help freshmen dive into typical atmosphere of MKIK and let them feel a part of a big team. It’s truly important for the education because it’s more interesting and comfortable to study the profession around creative and like-minded people.
It's already been the 3rd year when the initiation ceremony begins with a quest. Students show their creative and intellectual capacity while performing tasks. Besides, they learn to understand one another.
Freshmen need to unite and give credit to every opinion to perform a certain task and go to the next level because the tasks are focused exactly on teamwork. During the process, students realised how much they befriended in just one month. The hosts of the event also emphasised that.
After the quest, MKIK held a real talent show: participants were singing, dancing, and playing musical instruments. There was a traditional flash mob, passing a ball of thread to one another, which brought everyone in the room together. It’s some kind of a metaphor of cohesion of all faculties.
Freshmen wrote letters to themselves in the future which is also a MKIK’s tradition. Everyone put their soul in what they wrote and imagined who they are going to be in few years of studying.
The Rector of MKIK Marina Volynkina congratulated the students and wished them to study diligently and get only good emotions from education in MKIK.
At the end of that amazing evening, freshmen got MKIK-branded shopper as a present, which is not only fashionable but also ecological.
Freshmen told about their impressions of the event in the comments.
Ekaterina Kazina, student of the Journalism and Publishing College of MKIK:
“Having visited the event, I want to say that I didn’t regret going to MKIK even for a moment. It’s such a heart-warming and atmospheric college! We passed the quest and listened to the songs that we all know. The cohesion of the groups, creative emancipation, and self-expression await you in MKIK”.
Tatiana Nazarikova, student of the Journalism and Publishing College of MKIK:
“Despite the fact that I was also helping with the organisation of the initiation ceremony and spent the day behind the equipment, I really enjoyed watching the stage, seeing students’ emotions, and realising that our work wasn’t for nothing. I’m really grateful to everyone who participated and who came to see our concert”.
Anastasia Sokolova, student of the Chinese College of MKIK:
“Student initiation ceremony was really interesting! In the beginning, we had creative levels of the quest taking place in different sections and on different floors of the college building. Winners even got the prize!
After that, students organised a concert where they showed their talents. I was responsible for writing and setting up the sketches. After the event, I received a lot of good reviews!
The participants performed heartwarming and soulful songs. Everyone was singing along, students turned on flashlights on their phones! At the end of the ceremony, we were bound with one another with threads of friendship and wrote letters to the future, which we will get at the end of studying.
Initiation ceremony is a wonderful and important event for every student. Our initiation ceremony was magical and unforgettable! It will remain in our hearts forever!”
Alena Ermolaeva, student of the Journalism and Publishing College of MKIK, member of the Student Parliament
