The MKIK will represent Russia at the online event and show how small steps change the environmental situation.
The college is rightly called an eco-friendly space. MKIK saves resources, collects batteries and pens for recycling, and recycles waste paper. There are posters by Design students on the floors of the college calling for the elimination of environmentally unsound packaging, careful handling of electricity and water, and conscious buying.
The students use professional skills to broadcast their ideas to society and reinforce the trend towards informed consumption. They often study environmental issues in their graduation projects.
The students of the Journalism and Publishing College of MKIKcreate books to analyse ecological problems. For example, Elizaveta Danilkina developed an original children’s book titled Oceania, in which she touched on the topic of pollution of the world ocean.
The Photography College students turn to environmental issues in their photo projects. In October, they took part in the creation of a series of photos about the elimination of environmentally unsound packages.
The students showed the options of using string bags, which are universal and, unlike plastic bags, are environmentally friendly. The shooting was conducted by the famous artist and photographer Vadim Gushchin. Photographer Andrey Akimov supervised the second part of the project.
In the film for the Earth Day international action, students and teachers will also tell about the Global Talents web-portal, wherespecial attention is paid to environmental education.
To present Russia at the Earth Day large-scale international action is a great honour for the MKIK. The college willingly uses the opportunity to share its experience of environmental activities with the whole world.
