ïîäïèñàòüñÿPatrium Summer School is one of the most ambitious projects of the International College for Arts and Communication (MKIK). For the first time, the event for talented schoolchildren took place in 2017. Since then, the formats of the event have varied but the warm and friendly atmosphere of the meeting has remained unchanged. In this article, we tell how the forth Patrium Summer School went.
The first day of the educational event took place on September 26 in online format. The event was attended by the winners of the Global Talents Internet portal’s competitions aged 8 to 18 years. Usually the leaders came from different regions of the country to Moscow but the pandemic has made its own adjustments: the traditional meeting was held in the Internet space for the first time.
The MKIK team created an eventful programme and invited unique experts to make sure that participants did not feel the difference and were satisfied with the new format. Workshops for talented schoolchildren were conducted not only by invited speakers but also by the lecturers of the MKIK.
The volunteers of the Patrium Summer School included students from different faculties. During the three days of Patrium, they were in the MKIK from where the event was broadcasted. The students greeted the guests, reported on the events on social networks, and resolved organisational issues.
Many surprises awaited talented schoolchildren on the first day of Patrium. The day began with a warm and friendly welcoming speech from Marina Volynkina, Head of the Global Talents web-portal, and the MKIK students.
Lilia Gumerova, Chairperson of the Federation Council Committee on Science, Education and Culture, conveyed a welcoming word for the winners. She promised to meet with them in Moscow after the pandemic.
Then the educational programme of the Patrium Summer School began. It included interactive classes and exciting workshops. At the same time, there were activities for the winners aged 8 to 14 years and for older participants aged 14 to 18 years.
There were a lot of events, the speakers managed to cover a huge number of interesting topics.
Maria Tomashevskaya, Fine Arts and Design lecturer and graphic designer, held a workshop for younger schoolchildren called Visualisation of Emotions and told more adult participants about branding.

After that, schoolchildren depicted the symbol of the Russian capital on a sketching lesson from Margarita Timofeeva, Drawing and Painting lecturer and interior designer.
Irina Belogortseva, Deputy Rector for Learning and Teaching, conducted a business game called Everything Is in My Hands, in which the schoolchildren learned about their abilities in different subject areas.
Patrium also organised a programme for parents. Psychologist Maria Borisova highlighted the topic ‘Features of Parent-Child Relationships and Their Impact on the Formation of Personality’ and Irina Belogortseva gave a lecture titled ‘How to Bring Up a Talented Child, or There Are No Untalented Children’.
