ïîäïèñàòüñÿLecturers of the MKIK delivered lectures and workshops as part of a three-day online intensive called ‘Bauhaus Open Studios – Teaching Models Refresher Course and Methods of Design Teaching in Russia’. The event is organised by MKIK jointly with the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation. More than fifty teachers and designer from different regions of Russia took part in the intensive course.
For the first time, their joint online course dedicated to two influential schools, the Bauhaus and the VKHUTEMAS was held in autumn 2020 and got positive response from participants. It was the reason for launching the second intensive with expanded list of speakers and a new programme, which includes three thematic blocks.
Introduction to the Bauhaus School of Design
On the first day of the intensive course, researchers of the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation named Katja Klausand Filip Žák presented the methodical materials based on the propaedeutics course of the Bauhaus professors. The block was complemented by an online walk around the spaces of the German school from a tour guide Daria Sorokina.
Introduction to the VKHUTEMAS School of Design
The second day started with a lecture by Olga Baranova, art historian and curator of the Design College of MKIK, who told about the development of avant-garde movements in Russia and the origins of the renowned design school. After that, Evgenia Suprutskaya, Dean of the Journalism and Publishing College of MKIK, delivered a workshop on creation of zines. In the end of the second day, the virtual tour of the historical heritage of the VKHUTEMAS took place within the Moscow Through the Eyes of an Engineer project.
Legacy of the Bauhaus and the VKHUTEMAS Design Schools
The third day of intensive course was opened by Vladimir Runge, a legendary Soviet designer. Then participants learned about the peculiarities of Soviet architecture at a meeting with Anastasia Petrova, Dean of the Architecture College of MKIK, Head of the TZAM Architects bureau. The intensive course ended with a lecture on the heritage of avant-garde photography by Vadim Gushchin, photographer and curator of the Photography College of MKIK.
In three days, participants of the intensive course have learned unique information about the models of teaching design and opportunities of using them in pedagogical practice. As a result of the testing, teachers will receive certificates of advanced training.
